Backyard Addition

We have been working in the yard non-stop today. I planted my flowers in the front and my garden in the back. I planted strawberries, tomatoes, and peas this year. Brent bought the swingset from Walmart and assembled it. It was a bit of a nightmare. All of the pieces were separate, the instructions were in Chinese, and none of the pieces were marked or predrilled. It took about 6 hours to assemble by himself AND just as he was finishing the last bolt, he sliced his hand with the drill bit. I thought it was a deep gash and was ready to head to the ER. Brent nearly passed out at the sink so I got him to a chair and called a neighbor. They came and took the boys and Seth helped take care of Brent. He really fixed him up and we didn't have to go to the ER, afterall. I am SO grateful for good neighbors and friends! In the end, I think the swingset turned out pretty nice!

What turned out to be a backyard addition almost turned into a Brent deletion! So glad he's okay and that you have such good neighbors to come to your aid. The unit looks great, lots of fun things to do and play on. I only ask where was this when Bob and I were kids? Love you all! Liz and Bob.

Wow, that is a super cute playset! I am so impressed that Brent did that by himself in 6 hours. We just got a similar set about 3 weeks ago. Peter insisted that we pay to have it assembled. I thought it was a rip off but conceded. When the two nice men came and worked with their expert speediness they got it up in about 3 hours. As I watched them I thought to myself, good thing Peter is not doing this. It would have taken him months! I told the men this and they laughed and said they usually have people call them right before they are on the verge of divorce regarding it. :-) Good job Brent! And sorry about the finger.

Oh, sorry I had you on my blog as James and Julie. I just noticed that and changed it today. I am such a dough head!

Peter and I were discussing putting up a hammock we have. I laughed as I remembered that time that you and I insisted on sleeping in our hammocks. That was one the most hilarious, uncomfortable nights of my life!

I'm glad Brent is okay! Scott had one moment like that doing a similair assembly for the kids-he put a screwdriver through his hand and he did require stitches. I'm glad Brent didn't! he did a great job on the swingset. Your boys will have hours of fun! Our kids LOVE ours!
